In Uganda, early-grade mathematics education faces significant challenges. Many primary school teachers lack specialized training in mathematics, impacting the quality of instruction. A 2018 report by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) revealed that a considerable number of teachers did not meet the required qualifications in numeracy.
The evaluation captures the most significant changes made as a result of the 3-year Comic Relief funded (£161,799) Reading Project in the Masindi and Buliisa district of Uganda ending in July 2017.
